UIA Infopoint_electric field pavilion_06 laser cut model

Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials, and is typically used for industrial manufacturing applications. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut. The material then either melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas,[1] leaving an edge with a high quality surface finish. Industrial laser cutters are used to cut flat-sheet material as well as structural and piping materials. Some 6-axis lasers can perform cutting operations on parts that have been pre-formed by casting or machining.

Some images from our proposal for UIA infopoint competition. Laser cut model technique with opaque plexiglass. I worked on the different layers that create the volume of the pavilion to optimaze this different shape for the laser printer. I unrolled all the shape on the same x,y,z plane for everyone and then i optimaze the distance of the layers for nesting. Handmade, not any plugin :( like rhinonest.
